And have a lot of fun doing it!
My name is Jai Johnson, and I want to take a moment to welcome you to our website, and to say thank you for taking the first steps in beginning Martial Arts classes.

I’ve taught Martial Arts classes since 1990 and have seen every kind of personality you can think of. Our Martial Arts program has helped all of them reach their goals. We constantly hear from students on their improved ability to focus, increase self-esteem, improve their performance, and show more confidence in everything they do.

On this page, I'll tell you a little about the focus of our classes, and methods we use to achieve our results. Take a look at what we do, and see if our teaching philosophy would be right for you and your family.

Again, thank you  for considering our Martial Arts program – it was the BEST thing I did to help shape the person I am today.
Health Issues, Family Needs, Work Pressure, Time Demands…
 Sound Familiar?
Self Defense isn’t just physical; it’s also mental, spiritual and emotional. The demands on us, day in and day out, can be overwhelming!  The symptoms from this intense way of life are undeniable:
  • Excessive Weight

Sedentary lifestyles, daily stress, and a poor diet eventually starts to show itself as weight gain.  Stress-relieving, physical activity can help you shed the weight and help you want to make better food choices.

  • Lack of Social Interaction

People are not supposed to be shut up in a cubicle all day, only to come home and turn on the TV (then go to bed and repeat the cycle again and again). Being in class with other people just like you, focused on bettering themselves and reaching towards their best is absolutely invaluable to your own personal journey.

  • Lack of Motivation

Making a real change, in any aspect of your life, requires motivation.  Being surrounded by enthusiastic, fun, motivating instructors and friends, can help keep you on the right path and foster a sense of self-motivation.  Our culture of support and success will help you reach your goals both on the martial arts mat and in other aspects of your life.

  • Lack of Confidence

A confident mind set is crucial to being your best. As you achieve your martial arts goals in the right type of environment, you'll begin to "flex" your confidence muscles. We'll teach you how to be your own best coach, learn from your mistakes, and encourage yourself to new heights in all aspects of your life.

  • Lack of Flexibility

Flexibility is an important part of your health and fitness.  You don't have to be as flexible as a gymnast, but you DO need enough flexibility to be able to move with fluidity, avoid injury, and continue doing your everyday activities without pain.  Martial arts will help you improve your flexibility by employing a consistent stretching routine and keeping your muscles pliable.

  • Chronic Disease

Many of our lifestyle choices are increasing our risks for chronic disease.  Smoking, overuse of alcohol, poor diet, lack of physical activity and inadequate relief of chronic stress are key contributors in the development and progression of preventable chronic diseases.  Martial arts can get you moving, reduce your stress, and support you in making better behavior choices.

We Can Help!
We’ve specifically developed our classes to help you reach new levels of health and happiness. Whether it’s learning self-defense, weight loss, or just getting out of the house to do something good for yourself, our Martial Arts Classes will help!
Achieve The Results You Deserve
Students Report Excellent Progress After Beginning Martial Arts Training:
  • Self Esteem

One of the most important things you’ll earn in our classes is a positive sense of self and increased confidence.  Having a high level of confidence makes all the difference when it comes to being successful in life.  When people are confident they focus better, are more diligent, are more likely to experience positive emotions, and are calmer in the face of adversity.  People with high self esteem are more willing to take chances because they believe in themselves.
Learning and mastering new skills in martial arts, continually achieving success, improving your physical fitness, and consistently testing your limits, all raise feelings of self-esteem and self-efficacy.
  • Self Defense

When it comes to self defense, learning a martial art is one of the smartest things you can do. We'll help you learn practical, effective techniques that will help you to defend yourself and your family if needed.
  • Fitness

It feels terrible to be out of breath after even the slightest physical activity. After only a few weeks in our classes, you’ll have more energy, stamina, and vitality than you’ve had in years (or maybe ever!)

  • Group Support

The value of working through your challenges with a group of peers who are all focused on the same goals cannot be overstated. You WILL be held accountable, and this time you WILL achieve your goals. We (the instructors and other members) won’t let you shy away form the things you want to accomplish; we’ll be there every step of the way.

Our Classes Blend Fitness with Self Defense, And That’s Important!

The reality is that you can’t really separate the two. If you want to be able to defend yourself, then you need to be in good shape.  The good news is YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE TO START!  That’s what we're here for – to help regular people like you reach new goals everyday.

Group Classes That Focus on YOUR Goals

Everyone attends Martial Arts lessons for their own personal reasons. We have a great group of people who work hard to achieve things they never thought they were capable of.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I get hurt?

Safety is always our number one priority. Although you risk injury anytime you choose to participate in a sport, in our experience, we see far fewer injuries in our classes than in other physical activities (running, baseball, basketball, softball, football, etc).

How often do I need to come to class and when are your classes?

That really depends on you.  We understand that every person's situation is unique, and they have different reasons for coming to class.  We have students who are successful in our program at only one day a week, and we have students who never miss a scheduled class.  It's really up to you.
